Kinesiology

Kinesiology plays an important role in chronic pain management. Kinesiology sessions focus on rehabilitation through movement. This is composed of a variety of methods and areas of human movement. Kinesiologists will use their expertise to improve range of motion, by removing restrictions and lengthening short or tight muscles, balance musculature and strength and teach proper movement mechanics which will be translated to daily life.

By using all these concepts together in unison, the Kinesiologist is able to develop a personalized plan for the client which will remove compensation patterns contributing to increased pain, calm the nervous system helping to reduce the sensitivity of nociceptive receptors and reducing pain.

Kinesiology helps to remove the movement and compensation patterns that are directly leading to pain, while strengthening the weakened areas of the musculoskeletal system. This allows for long-term pain reduction while helping to reduce the risk of reinjury.

Exercise has been shown to increase endorphins and improve blood flow and oxygen delivery to the tissues. An increased in endorphins is known to suppress pain through the central nervous system. Increased blood flow and oxygen delivery allows the necessary nutrients, hormones, and proteins to be delivered directly to the tissues required for healing.
